Here is a truth about infrared heaters: the heating element usually isn’t what kills them. It’s the environment. Water droplets, fog, and general workshop grime sneak in, eat away at the electrical contacts, and boom—your tube fails way before it should. It’s frustrating, and it’s expensive. That’s exactly why we built our heating tables with an IP44 rating.
What IP44 actually means for you
In plain English, IP44 means we’ve blocked out anything larger than 1mm and, more importantly, we’ve stopped water splashes from getting where they don’t belong. We did this by sealing the junction boxes and using gaskets that act like a shield against mist and spray. If you’re working in a high-humidity shop where condensation just seems to settle on everything, this is a lifesaver. No more worrying about your wiring burning out because of a little dampness in the air.
Dealing with the “Shock” factor
Think about what happens when a cold drop of water hits a quartz tube glowing at 500°C. It’s a massive thermal shock. Often, the glass just cracks. Our splash-proof housing keeps that heating zone bone-dry. Plus, we used corrosion-resistant coatings on the chassis. This means you can wipe the unit down with a damp cloth or run it in a foggy industrial setting without watching it rust through in six months.
The one trade-off
Now, there is a catch. When you seal a heater this tightly to keep water out, the heat doesn’t escape as easily. Internal temperatures climb faster than they would in an open-frame model. Just make sure your ventilation is set up right. You don’t want your control electronics overheating because the air is trapped.
Getting it running
We designed these to be a simple drop-in replacement. You can wire them into your current power grid without needing to build some fancy, sterile “dry-room” first. By keeping the moisture away from the heat, you stop those annoying short circuits and your lamps simply last longer. It’s basic physics: keep the water out, and the hardware stays alive.
