If you’ve ever pulled a loaf out of the oven only to find one side burnt and the other pale, you know how frustrating it is. Bread is finicky. A tiny temperature swing—even just a few degrees—can be the difference between a perfect, golden crust and a collapsed, sad-looking crumb. That’s why we use twin-tube infrared bulbs. Instead of waiting for the whole oven to heat up like a slow-moving radiator, these lamps blast short-wave radiation directly onto the dough. It’s instant. When you use a single tube, you often get “hot spots”—those annoying patches where the heat is too intense in one spot and lukewarm in another. The nitty-gritty stuff We use high-purity quartz glass because this stuff gets hot—really hot—and it needs to handle that thermal shock without shattering. Inside, there’s a halogen gas fill. That’s just a fancy way of saying the filament won’t evaporate quickly, so your heat stays consistent for thousands of hours. And since things eventually wear out, we use standard R7s or SK15 connectors. If a bulb pops, you can just swap it out in seconds. No need to tear apart the wiring or call in a technician. Why this actually matters for your bake A lot of people struggle because they rely on basic thermostats that “hunt” for the right temperature, swinging too high and then too low. But when you pair these twin-tube bulbs with a PID controller? It’s a different world. The response is nearly immediate. You hit your target temp in seconds, and you stay there. One quick warning, though. Because these bulbs pack so much heat into a small area, you have to keep them clean. If flour or grease builds up on the glass, the heat gets trapped. The glass overheats, and snap—it cracks. Keep the tubes spotless and make sure your oven’s vents can handle the heat spikes. Do that, and you’re golden.
