When you’re designing a heater for a bathroom, you have a weird problem. You want the heat to hit your skin, but you don’t want to feel like you’re staring into the sun while you’re brushing your teeth. Standard short-wave lamps are just too bright. They have this harsh, blinding glare that’s not just annoying—it’s actually stressful on the eyes. And if you have a baby in the house? Their retinas are still developing. You can’t have them staring into a spotlight. How we fix the light We don’t just put a dimmer on the lamp. That doesn’t really work. Instead, we change how the lamp actually behaves. We tweak the tungsten filament and add special coatings to the quartz glass. This basically filters out the high-frequency light that hurts your eyes and pushes the energy into the long-wave infrared range. The result? You get all the warmth, but the light stays soft and mellow. The nitty-gritty stuff To make this last, we use high-purity quartz. It’s tough. It can handle being turned on and off quickly without cracking. We also optimize the gas inside the tube so the filament doesn’t just burn out after a few months. One quick tip: make sure your wiring can handle the initial surge of power when it kicks on. If your voltage is jumping all over the place, the light can actually drift back toward that bright, harsh spectrum. The trade-off Here’s the honest truth: because we’re filtering out those wavelengths for safety, you lose a bit of that immediate “punch” you get from an industrial heater. It’s not an instant blast of heat. To make up for that, we just made the heating element larger. It spreads the warmth more evenly across the room so you don’t have “hot spots” and “cold spots.” Just be smart about where you mount it. You want it low enough to keep your toes warm, but high enough that you aren’t scorching your ceiling.
